Savannah M. Taylor is an esteemed creative mind, driven by a deep reverence for the impact of Black history and culture on society. Her professional journey— marked by her roles as a writer, editor, cultural commentator and creative—stands as a testament to her unwavering commitment to amplifying the visibility of Black narratives.

 

Hailing from Springfield, MA, Savannah's roots hold a significant place in shaping her narrative. A graduate of Syracuse University, she holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in African American Studies and Communication & Rhetorical Studies, a foundation that fuels her passion for empowering Black voices across various digital storytelling platforms.

Her prowess as a writer and editor lies in championing the profound influence of Black culture on society.  Savannah's portfolio boasts illuminating cover stories, features profiles, opinion pieces and interviews ranging from unsung heroes to revered luminaries within the Black community. As the Director of Editorial at EBONY magazine, she drives dynamic storytelling, curates compelling narratives, and ensures every piece of content resonates with impact. Her work has been featured on BBC NewsHour and MSNBC, solidifying her reputation as a sharp cultural commentator and editorial force.

Aside from her love of writing being her “superpower,” community building is at the forefront of her personal mission. Through words and engagement in various initiatives, she believes that the power of dialogue and interconnectivity can change the world.  Beyond her accomplishments, Savannah proudly aligns herself as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, a historic Black Greek letter organization deeply rooted in public service and social action. Her dedication to fostering change and promoting the elevation of Black narratives is her North Star and guides her steps daily.
